We all used to love them (ha ha ) once a week for crew and beginning of every cruise for passengers.Share any stories you have and also which Muster Station(s) or Boat/Raft Station(s) you had over the years.

When in cabin 2130 the Muster Station was in the Lido so you got to sit down, always a plus.

The Muster Station for cainb 2048 (my second choice cabin) was outside the Library which was not as good as you had to stand.

The fist few times I was on board they still had those old style lifejackets that were very heavy and had long ribbons you had to loop around and tie in a bow. Not fun when climing the stairs from Deck 4. affraid

The new lighter ones were much better.

If you had put them on and tied the ribbons in your cabin before heading to your muster station you would not have had trailing ribbons to trip you. Smile Then after the drill, if you returned your jacket to your cabin immediately (as you were supposed to do) before removing the jacket, once again there would be no trailing ribbons to trip on. Smile

It always amazed me at passenger boat drills how so many people arrived at their muster stations simply carrying their life jackets or with then on but tied incorrectly in some very imaginative ways. The instructions for putting the jackets on and tying them correctly were on large signs in each cabin's bathroom and they were straightforward.

I think the procedure changed whereby you were asked to take your LJ to the drill and you would be shown how to put it on and tie/connect them.

What always got me was no matter what the time of the drill there were always people walking around with the jackets at least an hour before thr fun started and likewise once the show had finished people would be walking the deck with them on as if the jacket was some sort of trophy.
