11 September 1995: Stuck in Hurricane Luis, QE2 was hove-to in wind speeds up to 100 knots and 40-50 foot seas.
2:10a.m. QE2 is struck by a 90 foot wave. The weight of the water crashing onto the foredeck dents deck plating and bends rails.
