Assured Travel/Israel Charter 1973
The ship was chartered for a return visit to Israel. The outbound passage began on 15/4 as the Easter Passover Cruise, the return was the Silver Independence Day Cruise departing 1/5 for Southampton.
On the outbound leg she called Lisbon before arriving in Ashdod. She spent sometime in port before moving onto Haifa. For the return she commenced again in Ashdod and called at Lisbon before arriving Southampton.
I believe that these voyages sparked an attampt by Libya to torpedo the ship whilst enroute to Israel.

President Anwar Sadat revealed details of the Libyan plot a few years later during the Egyptian-Israeli peace talks. At the time of the charter several Egyptian naval vessels including a submarine were on loan to Libya as part of a lybian-Egyptian exchange programme. Colonel Qadaffi ordered the commander of the Egyptian sub to go out and torpedo QE2. The Egyptian commander contacted his superiors in Cairo and Sadat personally countermanded the order and told the commander to sail home to Egypt immediately.
